It is common knowledge that the pigeons in Moortsele are played at the cutting edge. During the season, Marnik and Tom do everything to get and keep the pigeons in top condition. When this condition is present, they are played hard and intensely, but certainly not recklessly and thoughtlessly destroyed.
It was already several years ago - from 2020 - that a national victory could be nailed to the proverbial ceiling, but now it was finally ‘boenk op’ again.
National winner was hen ‘National Rita’ (B24-4083430) who won in the yearling category.
‘National Rita’ was played by Kristof Demulle as a young pigeon and performed very well there with 12 x 1/10 - 1st Noyon 1,808 young - 55th Nat. Argenton 14,745 young birds. After the season she was transferred to Tom and Marnik's lofts and lo and behold...she could not put away her class and shone by winning 1st prize national Tulle. As already noted in the beginning of the report, the Van Gaver pigeons have to work hard to earn their place in the loft and ‘National Rita’ will in all probability still be basketed as well.
‘National Rita’ is a full sister to ‘357-23’, which in turn became 25th National ace KBDB Fond yearling. She won 9th, 13th, 62nd, 78th and 91st nationally. Talk about a ‘winning family’.
