Le 2 mars 2025, le célèbre champion Marc Pollin de Snellegem est décédé à l’âge de 78 ans.
Marc, qui ces dernières années concourait avec son fils Geert, était un travailleur né de la terre flamande occidentale, qui, avec toute sa sobriété, savait pertinemment que sans effort, on n’arrive à rien. Dans le sport colombophile aussi, aucun effort n’était épargné.
Pour Marc, le sport colombophile signifiait travailler de manière réfléchie et toujours investir dans l’avenir de sa colonie. C’est pourquoi, à une exception près, aucun des cracks n’a jamais été vendu – ils recevaient une place dans le pigeonnier de reproduction. Des champions mondialement connus – ou plutôt des "icônes Pollin" – sont Le Perpignan, Dortmunder, Mortifer, Le Limoges.
Grâce à leurs performances en reproduction, Marc et Geert pouvaient – générations plus tard – être fiers des résultats de pigeons comme New Belgian Pride, Joe, Brother Joe, Cadel, Bruce, Montauban II, Limo 301, Brutus, Mister Jarnac, Michiel, etc.
Des pigeons All-round… voilà comment on peut le mieux décrire les pigeons Pollin. Que ce soit sur 200 km ou 900 km… ils aiment toujours se retrouver en tête du classement. Mais même dans d’autres colombiers, les pigeons Pollin performent parmi les meilleurs. La liste des références est interminable et, même en 2025, elle continue de s’allonger chaque semaine.
Ces dernières années, sous l’impulsion de Geert, ils ont participé avec succès à diverses One Loft Races internationales. Là aussi, les pigeons Pollin montrent leur classe exceptionnelle – la preuve en est leur 1re place lors de la finale de la célèbre course de Pattaya.
Avec le décès de Marc, la colombophilie à la Walbekestraat à Snellegem prend également fin. Geert n’a pas l’ambition de poursuivre ce sport.
Grâce au professionnalisme de l’équipe Herbots, la colonie Pollin sera vendue en plusieurs parties en ligne. Tous les actuels top-voyageurs, reproducteurs ainsi que quelques jeunes de 2025 seront proposés à la vente. Geert ne gardera qu’un petit groupe de yearlings pour élever des jeunes destinés aux One Loft Races (principalement en Thaïlande).
Investir dans les pigeons Pollin, c’est investir dans l’avenir de sa propre colonie. C’est une opportunité unique… et après cela, ce sera fini à jamais. N’hésitez pas !
