Sylwester Zielinski's season can be described as fantastic. He is competing on all fronts and can present a string of results that are simply mouth-watering. We are pleased to introduce his loft here and the system he uses to race. Notable top placings include 1st National (Z) La Chatre 2,392 yearlings and 1st Provincial Valence among the old birds. Furthermore, there are of course several superb results in the middle distance, with the top 4 or 4-5 places more than once. Sylwester is originally from Poland but has a busy job here and is therefore assisted by Johan Van den Wijngaert. Johan has been a fancier with strong performances for years and mainly takes care of the breeding loft and daily care when Sylwester is at work. Otherwise, it is difficult to run such a colony.

In his best pigeons, you will mainly find the names of the Jos Vercammen and Marcel Wouters lofts. An arriving pigeon from Antoine Van Haute is also a bullseye here, just like the Polish contribution via Daniel Pisanko. Last year, he already scored highly with 3rd National Ace Pigeon Middle Distance Yearlings KBDB 2024, thanks to his super pair “010” x “087”.

**Racing pigeons on total widowhood**

Here, the racing team is flown on total widowhood. I pair the pigeons at the beginning of March for 3 weeks, and then I clear everything out. Some have just paired, some are brooding, and some have nothing. At the moment of pairing, I also let them train out together; the cocks have already flown a bit before the pairings, but the hens haven't yet. But this way, I can easily acclimate them between the lofts. During the week, the hens stay in the rest loft and the aviary in front of it; for the first few days of the week, they are still allowed to choose between the two lofts. Afterwards, they become more agitated, and I lock them outside. This aviary is enclosed by trees and concrete walls, so only the front is open. If there are hens that mate, I can still separate them between the aviary and the resting loft during the day.

The pigeons train here in the morning at 6:00 AM, first the hens and then the cocks. After that, it is the young pigeons' turn. Training also takes place here on Thursday mornings; they eat better then before being basketed.

There are more hens than cocks in the loft, so in the beginning, I definitely capitalize on jealousy between the ladies. After a while, you notice which are the better pigeons, and then I either keep the cocks at home or race them closer to home. The hens usually go along for middle-distance races and further.

I leave them together for 2 to 3 hours after the race, and then it is pure chaos in the loft; I keep the pigeons for the long-distance races separate. These are usually hens, and I give them their cock for a few hours upon their return or the day after, depending on how everything turns out.

In terms of nutrition, I mainly use Vliegmix 2 and 3 from Aidi, along with a heavy mixture that I get from Poland. I feed my pigeons just enough at the beginning of the week, and towards the end of the week they are allowed to eat whatever they want, to which I add peanuts. Upon their return, they also receive Vliegmix 2 and 3 from Aidi. The young pigeons receive Vliegmix 1 and 2 from Aidi.

Additional products I use are Herbobeets from Herbovet, Probac 1000, Optimix Herbots, and garlic oil, along with brewer's yeast over the feed. I go for check-ups with Raf Herbots and use Trichovit every 4 weeks to keep trichomoniasis under control.
